DAY 6 - Grand Canyon, AZ - Las Vegas, NM

Woke up early and packed up camp, then drove to overlooks of the Grand Canyon. We were awestruck. The canyon seemed to me more in touch with the elements of earth, water, fire (in the colors) and air, (held in th canyon) than anyplace else on this planet. We imagined the distant peaks as faraway temples. This was the spectacular setting for a long heartfelt talk of our past and future.

Asfter leaving the Grand Canyon, we drove westward again and stopped at a cemetery along old route 66 in Seligram AZ. We hopped the barbed wire fence to go in and found it to be an odd cemetery laying exposed to the desert wind with withe crosses, missle casings, and catholic statuary for headsotones. Stella, a true photophrapher, busted out her camera for grave portraits.

Then we got moving again, and while attempting to pee at a sceneic overloc we got "caught with our pants down" at the Hoover Dam -- Damn!.

Just as night fell we entered Las Vegas. No wonder they call it the City of lIghts! As we left the mountains the city stretched out before us like a fabulous glittering sidewalk. When we arrived at the Casino strip we were again dumbounded and flabbergasted - there were more lights than we'd ever seen! The statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, Pirate Ships and all the wonders of the world were re-created in lights! We were two hot young cowgirls on the town and we go all our drinks for free. Cocktails were everywhere and we painted the town red. Luckily for Moxie she didn't get arrested this night (as unfortunately happened to her the last time she stayed in a Casino. We spent the night in the Flamingo.
